Technical Overview - Oracle Database |
 |
aeonscope runs on standard IBM PC's and compatibles, running Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, NT or 2000.
At the heart of aeonscope is Oracle, the worlds most robust and scaleable database. This means peace of mind, knowing that your data is stored in a database which is reliable, secure, fast, and will scale as large as your company requires.
No company is too small for an Oracle solution. Our smallest site uses aeonscope on just 5 IBM PC based workstations! Oracle runs on every conceivable computing platform, from commodity based Intel servers right through to mainframe based Sun and IBM systems.
The facts speak for themselves. Oracle runs under Microsoft NT, Unix and Novell's NetWare, but also under the Linux operating system that has been arousing serious attention from IT managers around the world. And for good reason:
- It's reliable (it's based on the extremely stable Unix operating system)
- It's free (because it's developed under the GNU public license)
- Lots of software (For example: e-mail and faxing systems, Internet software, Internet proxy caches (Squid), worlds leading web server, Apache)
- It's flexible and easy to integrate with your existing systems
Oracle is a transaction-oriented database. It commits a transaction, or it rolls the transaction back. It's as simple as that. It's either there, or it's not! Never any half-committed data, like you get when the power fails in the middle of some ordinary databases. For a General Ledger application, the sum of your debits always equals the sum of your credits.
Oracle can be configured to roll back to any point in time, and the database can be run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and can be backed up while in use by all your staff.
All of that has got to be music to the ears of any Accountant or IT Department! |
